Also earlier this year, Anheuser-Busch InBev announced a set of three-year global environmental goals as part of its Better World commitment. One goal focuses on water usage reduction. While efforts in this area have been under way for years, the new goal is to cut usage so that 2012 production water requirements will be 30 percent reduced from 2007 levels. That will save enough water to fill 25,000 Olympic-size swimming pools, according to the company.
The company hopes to achieve the reductions in a number of ways. For instance, it will use a combination of engineering solutions and ongoing training sessions that help identify key environmental issues, ensure the economical use of resources and fine-tune procedures.

Obviously, other companies have similar concerns about water usage and are setting similar goals. For instance, according to National Geographic, "the Coca-Cola Company has also now water-footprinted one of its products—the 0.5-liter bottle of Coca-Cola Classic. Armed with the new knowledge, the company hopes to improve water efficiency by 20 percent before 2012."
