● Students with disabilities may also find the playing field more level with the Intel Reader, a mobile device that takes a photo of any printed text, then converts it to digital text and reads it aloud to the user—a point, shoot and listen process. The size of a paperback book, the product weighs just over 1 pound and allows users to read on the spot or store text for later listening. Texas Instruments DLP is working with several school districts to implement 3D-ready classroom projectors to enhance visual learning—a technology that's especially helpful for students with ADHD, dyslexia and other disabilities. Using the technology "was a real 'A-ha!' moment for the kids," says Lauren Sanders, a math teacher at Shelton School, a private institution in Dallas that serves many of these students. ● Taking notes is getting easier for students and teachers with a couple of new tech products. Papershow allows a teacher to write on interactive paper with a Bluetooth pen and see his or her writing appear on the computer screen or overhead screen in real time. The product's Teacher's Edition includes math functions such as a calculator and tools for measuring angles. It also allows for several writing functions. Copia allows students to electronically read textbooks and take and share notes in the margins. They can also create discussion groups with other students, and interact with teachers on the platform.
