IBM has launched a new online initiative to help customers, potential
adopters and tech professionals looking to shore up knowledge on a wide
range of enterprise data challenges.
IBM’s
Virtual Briefing Center is
manned by a slate of IBM experts on hand to
help answer questions, offer solutions and explain IBM
technology options on everything from System x and BladeCenter hardware to
energy efficiency and virtualization implementations.
In a
letter announcing the effort, Lu Ahnemann, director of IBM
Worldwide STG Executive Briefing Centers,
explains what propelled IBM's latest
knowledge base, described by IBM as an
"online portal to the knowledge and expertise we offer to clients every
day."
"We
are leading the industry with our commitment to dynamic infrastructure in
support of a smarter planet," writes Ahnemann. "Our portfolio is the
richest it has ever been, and whether you want to go 'green,' virtualize or
secure your infrastructure, better harness your data to deliver business
results, hear about future trends and directions, or simply need a platform
solution, we are ready and able to help you."
The
VBC offers slide presentations, technology overviews, product demos and
customized technology briefings. The first live Webinar planned, on Feb. 22, is
an overview discussion of IBM's Power
Systems family.
The
session will reveal the latest tech advancements with the technologies and
PowerVM virtualization aspects as well as storage technology insight.
According
to project lead Anirban Chatterjee, managing consultant for Power Systems at IBM's
Executive Briefing
Center in Austin,
Texas, the portal's content will prove
extremely valuable to IT teams working with such technologies.
"The
biggest benefit to the customer is direct access to content posted by our
subject matter experts," Chatterjee says. "These aren't presentations
filled with filtered marketing buzzwords; these are real IT consultants
communicating real information about IBM
solutions."
In
addition to Webinar presentations, the portal offers 44 presentations on topics
ranging from Live Partition Mobility to efficient storage approaches to
hardware monitoring insight and everything in-between.
There is also quick access to other IBM information knowledge bases,
such as the company’s YouTube video
channel. The top favorite for viewers is the presentation on IBM PowerVM.
